The Sailor’s Hornpipe is a dance that portrays many of the chores done by a sailor while out to sea on a ship. There are nineteen competitive steps that include movements of pulling ropes, looking out to see and climbing the rigging. There are also many steps that have their own stories behind them. The costume worn for this dance is similar to a real sailor’s uniform.
