The Irish Jig is said to tell a story of an angry Irish Washerwoman chasing her husband around the house and thru the backyard where the laundry has been hung to dry. The dance has many steps to show this with shaking of the fists and stomping feet. It is one of the few dances where acting plays a large part. There has also been mention that alludes this Scottish version of an Irish Jig in fact is the Scots making fun of the Irish dances and musical taste. |
